PLANS FOR TRACK CARNIVAL

The arrangements for the Harvard track carnival, to be held on Saturday, March 9, have now been completed. The primary purpose of the carnival is to give all members of the University a chance to compete and the arrangements have been made accordingly.

Besides interdormitory relay races, there will be the following events: a 45-yard high hurdle race, scratch, for men who have never before run in a hurdle race; a 45-yard high hurdle race, handicap, invitation; a potato-race, from which men who have won their H. A. A. are excluded; a three legged race, open to all members of the University; a two-mile cross country run, time handicap, open to all members of the University, a high jump, scratch, open only to men who have never won a prize in high-jumping; a high-jump, handicap, invitation; a 16-pound shot-put, handicap, open to all members of the University; a 16-pound shot-put, scratch, open only to men who have never competed in a shot-put; a 16-pound hammer-throw, handicap, open to all members of the University. First and second prizes will be given in each of these events.

In the interdormitory relay races each team will be composed of six men, each of whom will run two laps of 130 yards. The races will be run the boats of two teams each, and the team winning the final race will receive a trophy from the Track and Field Club to be competed for each year. The members of the teams which win first and second places will receive individual prizes. The races will be run on the Holmes Field board track.

Thompson '07. All candidates for the teams should sign the lists as soon as possible in order to aid the captains in making up their teams. Time trials will be held about the last of this week or the first of next week. During the next two weeks the coaches will play special attention to inexperienced men.

Tickets admitting to the Gymnasium and to the track at Holmes Field will be put on sale today at $1 and at 50 cents. They may be obtained from J. J. Rowe '07, Weld 16, or G. Emerson '08, Matthews 23.
