In the eighteenth annual indoor handicap games of the Boston Athletic Association, held in Mechanics Hall, Boston, Saturday night, Harvard lost the University relay race with Yale, but defeated Yale in the Freshman race. The Seniors won the interclass race with the Sophomores second and the Juniors third.
In the University race with Yale, in which each man ran six laps. Whitcher for Harvard held the lead until the fifth lap, when he was passed by Frissell of Yale. Both men fought hard on the last lap, but the relay ended with Yale three yards in the lead. Miller for Harvard and Stevens for Yale ran the next relay in which Yale slightly increased the lead. In the third relay Captain Minot pushed Tilson of Yale hard, but was unable to gain appreciably. Yale started the last relay with Parsons leading by five yards over Van Brunt. The latter ran well, but Parsons had the race well in hand and Yale won by ten yards in 7 minutes 23 3-5 seconds.
The one-mile race between the Harvard and Yale freshman teams was one of the most exciting of the evening. Blachard of Harvard took the lead on the first corner, but soon lost it to Carey of Yale, who finished three yards ahead. In the second relay Hoyt lost a yard or two on the first two laps, but regained the distance on the last lap and pressed Mann of Yale closely. The third relay started with Merrihew of Harvard four yards behind Seymour of Yale. This position was maintained until the last lap, when Merrihew sprinted and passed his opponent, finishing five yards in the lead. Watson gradually increased the lead for Harvard on the last relay and finished ten yards ahead of La Montagne of Yale. The time, 3 minutes 13 1-5 seconds, was the second fastest of the evening.
The upper class race was crosely contested. L. J. Freedman '07 took the lead at first, but was passed on the last lap by W. G. Wendell '09. E. V. B. Parke '08 finished a close third. In the second relay, however, P. C. Lockwood '07 regained the lead for the Seniors. C. T. Allen '09 and P. Edwards '08 finished second and third respectively. The same order remained for the rest of the race. W. D. Thompson '07, H. F. Howes '09, and M. C. Hutchinson '08 composed the third relay, and in the fourth were J. F. Doyle '07, E. T. Dana '09, and P. C. Haskell '08.
In the individual events E. V. B. Parke '08, P. C. Lockwood '07, L. W. Churchill '07, and L. J. Freedman '07 won their heats in the 40-yard handicap, but were not placed in the finals, although Freedman won his heat in the semi-finals. P. C. Lockwood '07 won his heat and L. J. Freedman '07 was second in another heat in the 40-yard invitation dash, but both wee unplaced in the finals. Both W. M. Rand '09 and G. W. Waller '07 won their heats in the 45-yard hurdles, but failed to secure places. N. Hedin '08 with 50 yards handicap, was third in the 1000-yard run. In the 12-pound invitation shot-put, B. T. Stephenson, Jr., '08 secured second place with a put of 51 ft. 9 3-4 in.

Harvard-Yale race--won by Yale (Frissell, Stevens, Tilson, Parson, second, Harvard (W. F. Whitcher '09, H. F. Miller '08, W. Minot '07, M. B. Van Brunt '08). Time, 7m. 23 3-5s.
Harvard-Yale Freshman race--Won by Harvard 1910 (F. S. Blanchard, R. F. Hoyt, E. K. Merrihew, H. Watson); second, Yale 1910 (Carey, Mann, Seymour, La Montagne). Time, 3m. 13 1-5s.
Upper class race--Won by 1907 (L. J. Freedman, P. C. Lockwood, W. D. Thompson, J. F. Doyle); second, 1909 (W. G. Wendell, C. T. Allen; H. F. Howes, E. T. Dana); third, 1908 (E. V. B. Parke, P. Edwards, M. C. Hutchinson, P. C. Haskell). Time, 3m. 16 2-5s.
