WELD WON CREW RACE

Defeated Newell Yesterday by Three-Quarters of a Length.

In the graded crew race yesterday afternoon the Weld crew defeated Newell after a very exciting race. The crews were practically equal until within half a mile from the finish, when Weld, rowing a slightly higher stroke, began to draw ahead, finishing nearly three quarters of a length to the good.

As the result of the race, the following men have been taken up to the University squad: H. C. Beaman '10, G. S. Deming '10, L. Hill '10, C. McLeod '10, G. Martin '10, F. R. Maxwell '10, S. Vaughan '09.

The order of the winning crew was as follows: Stroke, G. Martin '10; 7, S. Vaughan '09; 6, L. Hill '10; 5, B. W. Wooley '09; 4, R. G. Haines '09; 3, R. H. Coe '11; 2, E. B. Robbins '10; bow, G. T. Aspinwall '10; cox. DeC. Fales '11.
