Hereafter, the following rules of the river must be strictly obeyed:
1. A crew going with the tide has the right of way over a crew going against the tide.
Exception: When the crew going against the tide is with a launch, and that going with the tide is not with a launch.
II. An eight has the right of way over a four; a four has the right of way over a pair; and a pair has the right of way over a single.
Exception: A four with a launch has the right of way over an eight not with a launch.
III. The University crews always have the right of way.
IV. Keep to the right when passing a crew coming from the opposite direction. Pass a crew going in the same direction on the left. All singles keep close to the right-hand bank.
V. All crews must be started in the following manner: "Attention all"--"Ready"--"Paddle." All crews must be stopped with the words: "Easy all." If the coxswain wishes the crew to "row hard," and not "paddle," he should start them in the following manner: "Get ready"--"Are you ready?"--"Row."
VI. Coxswains must always come into the float against the tide.
VII. Coxswains coming up-stream should remember, when about to go through the Boylston street bridge, to keep well over to the bank opposite the Weld boathouse, in order to avoid being carried by the tide into the sides of the bridge.
