Obituary

Randolph Howard Hitchcock '19, of Molokai, Hawaii, died in Stillman Infirmary at 7 o'clock yesterday evening of malignant cancer. He had suffered from the disease for nearly eight months, although the fact that he had it was not known until shortly after Christmas. At that time the doctors realized that his death was merely a matter of time but kept the knowledge from him until a few hours before he died.

Hitchcock prepared at Exeter where he held the interscholastic pole vault record. He entered the University with the Class of 1917, played on his Freshman football team and was a member of the 1917 swimming team. He was forced to leave College but returned last year with the Class of 1919. He was unable to compete in athletics last year because of difficulties with the Office, but was eligible this fall and was one of the first-string substitute halfbacks on the University football team.

Hichcock was 23 years old. He had been five years away from his home in Hawaii where he expected to return next spring. The funeral will take place tomorrow and the body will be taken back to Hawaii for burial.
