The University hockey squad held its first practice since December 20 on Artificial Pond yesterday afternoon. Work consisted of the usual preliminary rushing of the puck by the forwards against the defense, and a 40-minute line-up between the first and second teams, which resulted in a score of 3 to 1 in favor of the first team. The play on the whole was listless and the men showed poor physical condition. As the practice was on open ice the shooting was somewhat inaccurate. Coach Winsor stopped the play frequently, and did considerable individual coaching. Throughout the period the puck was mostly in the territory of the second team.
The class teams did not hold regular practice, although a short line-up was held between some of the candidates who were on the pond.
Following is the summary: Score--First Team, 3; Second Team, 1. Goals--Leonard 2, Dutton, Rumsey. Referee--A. Winsor '02. Timekeeper--Coach Donovan. Time--40-minute period.
