The Sophomore class hockey team defeated Newton High School yesterday afternoon at the Brae Burn Country Club, West Newton, by a score of 4 to 1. Considering that the team had not played together before, it made a good showing. During the first half neither team had an advantage, but towards the last of the second the Sophomore forwards played well together, and scored three goals in rapid succession.
The summary follows: Score--1909, 4; Newton H. S., 1. Goals--Crosby 2, Dougherty, Ford, Mellen. Referee--C. C. Pell '08. Timekeeper--E. A. Jamieson. Time--15 and 10-minute halves. The Junior class hockey team will play a practice game with Stone's School in the Stadium this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
