This afternoon at 2.30 o'clock the twenty-first annual outdoor track meet of the New England Interscholastic Athletic Association will be held under the auspices of the Harvard Athletic Association on Soldiers Field. First place in each event will count five points, second three, third two, and fourth one.
There are 173 entries this year, made by 19 schools, as against 115 entries by 16 schools last year. The meet promises to be very close, for although a number of men from Exeter's victorious team of last year will compete again. Andover, which did not compete last year, will be represented by a strong team this afternoon.
The schools represented are as follows: Andover, Boston Latin, Brookline High, Concord High, Dedham, High, Exeter, Linfield, Newton High, Noble and Greenough's, Rindge Manual, Roxbury Latin, Sharon High, Springfield High, Stone's, Volkmann's, Waban, West Roxbury High and Worcester Academy.
A reception for the competitors and officials, open also to all members of the Union, will be held in the Trophy Room of the Union directly after the games. Refreshments will be served, and the prizes, consisting of gold medals for first place, silver for second, and bronze for third, will be awarded. The school winning the greatest number of points will gain possession for a year of the two trophy cups offered by graduates and the Boston Athletic Association, respectively.
Admission tickets, at 50 cents each, may be purchased at Leavitt & Peirce's and Amee's in Cambridge, and at Wright & Ditson's in Boston.
