The sixteenth annual tournament for the Harvard interscholastic tennis championship in singles, which was begun on Saturday, will be concluded on Jarvis Field today. With the exception of two matches, the tournament has been brought down to the fifth round. Play will be resumed at 9 o'clock this morning and the finals will be played at 3 o'clock.
Since the semi-finals have not as yet been reached, it is impossible to pick the probable winner of the tournament. Volkmann's School leads so far in the contest for the shield to be awarded to the school winning the greatest number of matches, and it will probably carry off the honors. At the close of play on Saturday, the standing of the schools was. Volkmann 14, Newton High 10, Andover 9, Stone's 9, Boston Latin 6, Cambridge Latin 5, Rindge Manual Training 2, Exeter 1, and Dedham High 0.
