In the Olympic Games yesterday the Marathon run of 26 miles from Marathon to the Stadium in Athens was won by W. S. Herring, of Canada. This was the principal and best contested event of the day.

C. Leahy, England, won the running high jump with a jump of 1 meter, 77 1-2 centimeters (5 feet 10 inches). Goenczy, Hungary, was second, and H. W. Kerrigan, of Portland, Oregon, and Drakides, Greece, tied for third place.

The final heat of the 800-meter (874 yards) race was won by Paul Pilgrim, N. Y. A. C.; J. D. Lightbody, University of Chicago, was second, and Lieutenant W. Haswell, England, third. The time was 2 minutes 1 1-2 seconds.

In the finals of the hurdles R. G. Leavitt, Williams College, secured first place, the time being 16 1-5 seconds. A. H. Healey, England, was second, with Duncker, Germany, third.
