Spring football practice began yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field and for the present will be held daily for half an hour, beginning at 4 o'clock. Twenty-two men reported yesterday and were put throught light drill in the rudiments of the game. This consisted of kicking and catching punts, and starts from position for the backs, under the direction of Coach Reid and R. P. Kernan 2L.
In order to develop speed and readiness in handling the ball, the remainder of the squad was divided into two sides and given light work, under Captain Foster, in running and passing the ball, much as in basketball. There was no falling on the ball or tackling in the practice yesterday.
