UNIVERSITY CREW ON RIVER

Out Earlier Than In Former Years.--Captain Filley Strokes.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University crew, accompanied by the second boat, rowed on the river yesterday afternoon for the first time this season. The crew this year is out on the river earlier than ever before; last spring it did not get out until the end of March.

The crews rowed up to Brighton in easy stretches. Captain Filley coached from his position, as Wray was absent. The stroke was kept low and the boat spaced well between strokes. The blade work was smooth.

The orders:

University crew--Stroke, Filley; 7, Guild; 6, R. Bacon; 5, Richardson; 4, Glass; 3, Flint; 2, Tappan; bow, Burchard; cox., Simonds.

Second crew--Stroke, Morgan; 7, Emmons; 6, G. Bacon; 5, Montgomery; 4, Richards; 3, Warren; 2, Despard; bow, Fahnestock; cox., Ball.
