The University Library has just received a set of the "Spectator." 1711 to 1714, of the first edition, bound exactly as they were printed with one sheet devoted to each day. The set consists of two volumes, beautifully bound in full Levant by Riviere of London. These volumes are the only ones existing which contain every number that was published of the "Spectator." They are in extraordinarily good condition, being very little "foxed."
The books were bought by W. R. Castle '00 and G. C. Osborne '07 in Philadelphia, the money for the purchase being subscribed by several officers of the University and undergraduates.
