Fast Play in Hockey Practice

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The hockey practice in the Stadium yesterday afternoon was for the most part an improvement over the work recently. In a game of 10 and 15 minute halves the first team defeated the second by a score of 6 to 5. During the first period the play was spirited and exciting. Briggs, while playing coverpoint on the second, carried the puck the whole length of the rink, and scored a goal. A few minutes afterwards, by good team play and passing, the first team scored cleverly. Towards the end of this period Paine scored three goals in succession, each time shooting the puck from the middle of a scrimmage.

After the intermission the line-up was so changed that good team work was impossible. The individual play of the substitutes on the second team was on the whole superior, and three goals were scored in rapid succession. Near the end of the period the substitutes on the first team improved, and finally scored. Dr. F. J. Goodridge '98 acted as referee.

The two teams lined up as follows: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM. Pell, Strauss, l.e.  r.e., Fraser-Campbell, Niles Townsend, Leonard, Dougherty, Butt, l.c.  r.c., Rumsey, Crosby Paine, r.c.  l.c., Leonard, Butt, Dougherty Newhall, Edgell, r.e.  l.e., Claflin, Dutton Foster, Briggs, Harding, c.p.  c.p., Briggs, Ford Willetts, Starr, p.  p., Sampson, Whiting, Chalifoux Carpenter, g.  g., Washburn, Holloway
