Freshman Track Meet Successful

The second annual Freshman track meet was held yesterday afternoon in the Stadium. The weather conditions were bad, and the track soft, but good performances were seen in almost all events, and the meet on the whole was very encouraging. The most closely contested event was the one-mile run. R. E. Dole kept the lead for three laps, but J. R. Coolidge forced him all the last lap, and finally won by a few inches. Owing to lack of entries the 220-yard hurdle race was omitted.

The summary is as follows:

Track Events.

120-yard hurdles--Won by T. S. Blumer; second, R. M. Page. Time, 17 2-5s.

880-yard run--Won by R. Warren; second, R. F. Hoyt. Time, 2m. 9s.

100-yard dash--Won by L. Watson; second, C. C. Little. Time, 10 4-5s.

Mile run--Won by J. R. Coolidge; second, R. E. Dole. Time, 4m., 55 1-5s.

440-yard run--Won by E. K. Merrihew; second, A. T. Norton. Time, 54s.

Two-mile run--Won by C. Chadwick; second, N. S. Davis. Time, 12m., 19 4-5s.

220-yard dash--Won by L. Watson; second, C. O. Mason. Time, 24 2-5s.

Field Events.

Putting 16-pound shot--Won by C. C. Little; second, R. G. Kenefick. Distance, 38 ft., 2 in.

High jump--Won by J. S. Lawton: R. P. Pope and G. C. Adams tied for second place. Height, 5 ft., 6 in.

Pole vault--Won by E. L. Parker; L. C. Seaverns and J. R. Chapin tied for second place. Height, 9 ft.

Broad jump--Won by C. G. Little; second, E. H. Ruch. Distance, 20 ft., 2 1-2 in.

Throwing 12-pound hammer--Won by L. A. Sussdorf; second, P. H. Vogel. Distance, 83 ft., 8 in.
