1906 WON INTERCLASS TRACK

Sophomores Second and Seniors Third.--Best Performance in Two-Mile Run.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In the annual interclass track games held in the Stadium yesterday afternoon the Juniors won the class championship with a total of 43 points. The Sophomores scored 30 points, the Seniors 26 and the Freshmen 18.

Although the track was in good condition a strong south wind which blew up the stretch interfered with fast performances on the track. Some of the events were run in very creditable time, however, notably the two-mile run which was won in 10 m., 5 2-5 s. In this race, after a fast start, the lead alternated between H. F. Miller, Jr., '08 and M. H. Stone '07 until the beginning of the second mile. Here D: Grant 4M. forged to the front and alternated in the lead with A. King 2L. until the last half lap. At this point W. G. Howard '07, who had been running in third place, spurted, and passing King near the line finished three feet behind Grant and the same distance ahead of King. A. G. Grant '07 won the pole vault with a jump of 10 ft. 9 in., and in an exhibition vault cleared 11 feet. Last Monday in the handicap games Grant won only third place in the pole vault.

A number of graduates ran in the meet and those finishing in first or second place will receive cups. The first two undergraduates to finish in each event will also receive prizes, and all undergraduates scoring will be awarded their class numerals. In scoring the graduates were disregarded.
