The Union will be open tonight to all members of the University on the occasion of an address to be made at 8 o'clock in the Living Room by Hon. P. Ramanathan, K.C., C.M.G., Solicitor-General of Ceylon, on "The Spirit of The East and The Spirt of the West." Professor E. R. Lanman, chairman of the department of Indic philology, will preside and will introduce the speaker.
Mr. Ramanathan has made a deep study of the different creeds of the world, and has written numerous commentaries on the Christian Scriptures. It was through these commentaries that Mr. M. H. Phelps, Yale '76, who is interested in the comparative study of religions, heard of Mr. Ramanathan, and induced him to visit this country to interpret to Americans his ideas on the unity of faith.
The latter part of the lecture will be illustrated by stereopticon views of India.
