Better Basketball Practice.

In two long halves last evening, the University basketball team defeated the second team by a score of 52 to 10. The practice on the whole showed a slight improvement over any since the recess, but only for brief periods did the men display real team work. During almost all of the second half the ball was kept in the second team's territory, the scoring of the second team, being due entirely to fouls. The first game of the season will be played with the Naval Reserves at Newport on Monday evening at 8 o'clock.

As only a few men have signed for the scrub basketball teams, the first game has been postponed until the end of next week. Men may sign for the series in the blue book at the Gymnasium either as individuals or in teams of five before 8 o'clock Tuesday.

The line-up last night was: UNIVERSITY.  SECOND. Henderson, l.f.  r.f., Gallagher, Underwood, Murray, r.f.  l.f., Murray, Jones, Procter Snyder, c.  c., Lewis, Miles Burnham, l.g.  r.g., Procter, Moore Griffiths, r.g.  l.g., Dapping
