The Metropolitan Regatta was held on the Charles River yesterday afternoon under fairly good weather conditions, except for the eight-oared races which were rowed on the straightaway mile and a half course against a strong head wind.

E. B. Robbins '07 won the junior race for single sculls, the only event in which a Weld Boat Club entry was successful. He easily defeated F. N. Morrill of the B. A. A. by two lengths of open water, in 11 minutes, 55 seconds.

An excellent start was made in the junior eight-oared race, between the Weld crew and the B. A. A. interscholastic eight. For the greater part of the race neither boat was able to maintain a noticeable lead, but near the finish Deming, the Weld stroke, collapsed, and the school crew won by a little over half a length. The time was 9 minutes, 7 seconds.

In the senior eight-oared race the Jeffries Point Boat Club crew defeated the Weld eight in which Gregg and Whitney had been substituted for Deming and Meier at stroke and six respectively. At the finish the Jeffries Point crew was more than two lengths ahead. The time was 8 minutes, 57 seconds.

M. King, Jr., '04 was defeated by W. Toumey of the St. Joseph's A. A. in the intermediate single scull race, and A. B. Taylor '04 lost the novice race to G. De Laskey of the East Boston A. A.
