The University second nine defeated the Holy Cross second team in a close and well played game at Worcester, Saturday afternoon, by a score of 4 to 1. Throughout the game the fielding of the second team was excellent, only one error being made, Alexander was effective, striking out eight men and giving only one base on balls. Harvard scored in the first inning on Greenough's threebase hit and an error. In the sixth, singles by Grant, Murphy, and Sperry, together with three errors by the Holy Cross infield, resulted in three runs. In the last half of the ninth, Ford of Holy Cross made a two-base hit, stole third and scored on an error by Burns. With two men on bases, Alexander retired Walker, thus ending the game.
