TENNIS WITH YALE TODAY

At the New Haven Lawn Club This Morning.--Chances Favor Harvard.

The tennis team left Boston yesterday at 1 o'clock to play Yale today at the New Haven Lawn Club. Each side will be represented by six men in the singles and by the same six in pairs, in the doubles. Each match will count as one point, the side with the greater number of points winning the meet. The singles for the best two out of three sets will be played at 9.30 o'clock, followed by the doubles for the best three out of five sets.

The chances of victory seem slightly in favor of the University team, as three of its members, B. S. Prentice '05, P. Bishop 3L., and J. I. B. Larned '05 completed with Yale last spring, whereas R. W. Cole '04 is the only member of last year's Yale team. The University team does well in the singles, but has not played long enough together in the doubles. The Yale team is much steadier than last year, having last Saturday defeated the strong Columbia team, 5 to 4. Harvard won the meet last year by the score 6 matches to 3.

The pairing for the doubles has belt made as follows: Prentice and Bishop Larned and Smither, Souther and Mason. In the singles the teams wil probably play in the following order: Harvard.  Yale. B. S. Prentice, '05,  A. H. Lewis '01 R. Bishop 3L.  F. W. Cole '01 R. Bishop 3L.  F. W. Cole '01 R. N. Smither '06.  K. H. Behr '01 T. B. Souther '04.  W. W. White '01 H. F. Mason '05.  F. E. Howland '01

In the open tournament at the Country Club, Brookline, yesterday, H. C. Egar '05 won in the first and second rounds of match play. He will play in the semifinals today.
