Freshmen, 17; St. Paul's, 7.

The Freshman nine defeated St. Paul's School of Garden City yesterday in an uninteresting game by a score of 17 to 7.

The playing of the Freshman though fast in the first five innings became spiritless towards the end of the game. Brennan, who took Greene's place in the eighth innings, was ineffective, and showed poor judgment with men on bases in the ninth. The batting was encouraging, but the base-running showed little headwork. The fielding of the team, except in the ninth inning, was fast. The score was fairly close until the sixth inning when the Freshmen scored nine runs on four hits, three bases on balls, and two errors. In the ninth inning Brennan weakened, and St. Paul's scored five runs on four hits and an error.

The score by innings:     1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9 Freshmen,  2  1  0  0  3  9  1  1  x--17 St. Paul's,  0  0  0  0  0  0  2  0  5--7
