UNIVERSITY CREW ON RIVER

The floats at the University boathouse were put out yesterday, and two eights from the University squad went out in barges on the river, for the first time this season. The crews rowed several stretches up and down in front of the boathouse, while Mr. Colson coached, from the float. The stroke was kept very slow, neither of the crews rowing more than twenty strokes to the minute. The rest of the squad rowed in pair oars.

The Freshman and class crews worked indoors and will probably continue to do so until the latter part of the week. Both the "John Harvard" and the "Veritas" are now ready for use, but they will not be launched until all stray cakes of ice have left the river.

The University crews rowed in the following order:

4.30 o'clock squad--Stroke. Brownell, 7, Kellogg; 6, Shepard; 5, Swaim; 4, Richmond; 3, Moller; 2, Ober; bow, White.

5 o'clock squad--Stroke, Smith; 7, Duffy; 6, Filley; 5, Lawson; 4, Shuebruk; 3, Gill; 2, Pleasanton; bow, Dillingham.
