Improvement in Basketball Practice.

In the basketball practice yesterday the University team defeated the second by the score of 21 to 10. Although the line-up of the first team contained a number of new men, consistent and effective team-work was developed. The fumbling which has been so discouraging in practice of late, has almost disappeared, and the men have acquired better control of long passes.

The team will be considerably handicapped for the remainder of the season by the loss of Randall and Grant, who have joined the baseball squad, and of Captain Bigelow, who will be unable to play again this season because of injuries. Coach Giles will have charge of the men until a new captain can be elected.

The line-up yesterday was as follows: UNIVERSITY.  SECOND. Underwood, l.f.  r.f., Dapping, Jones Henderson, r.f.  l.f., Gallagher, Pratt K. Smith, c.  c., Arnold, Griffiths Snyder, l.g.  r.g., Gring, Stinchfield Stinchfield, Gring, r.g.,  l.g., T. H. Smith
