Swimming Practice Began Yesterday.

Twenty-four men handed in their names as candidates for the University swimming, diving and water-polo teams last evening. Fourteen other men who were unable to report last night, will come out later, among them H. LeMoyne '07, who holds the Amateur Athletic Union Swimming Championship in the 50, 100, 220 and 330 yards dash.

There was a short practice for men trying for the relay and water-polo teams. The first regular practice, however, will be on Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock, and hereafter all candidates will be expected to report on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 8 o'clock. W. T. Harrison '05 and C. G. Dodge '04, assisted by some members of the Brookline Swimming Club, will coach the men individually in the Trudgeon and side strokes, the chief efforts in the beginning being directed toward improvement in form rather than increased speed.

It is probably that the Athletic Committee will give the insignia "H. S. A." to the members of the University teams should they take part with success in the intercollegiate meet.

The names of the men who will try for the teams are as follows:
