Rifle Range Under Stadium.

For several weeks the members of the Rifle and Pistol Club have been considering building a rifle range under the Stadium. The baseball cage which has been used for several years by the club has never been satisfactory, not only because of its size, but also owing to the fact that often in the winter and early spring the practice of the baseball and lacrosse squads conflict with the shoots arranged by the club.

The officers of the club in examining the proposed site with a former army range inspector, have found that an excellent 125-yard range would be possible. This distance would allow with reasonable precautions, the use of high power shells which have never been used in the present range. All the illumination needed in this kind of shooting is one strong light thrown directly upon the target, a comparatively easy matter to arrange.

As the consent of the Athletic Committee has not yet been received, no exact estimate of the cost of the necessary shields, new targets, and lights has been made, but it is very probable that it is within the means of the club.
