In a hard fought fencing match with the Institute of Technology at the Institute Gymnasium on Saturday night, Harvard won by the score of 5 to 4. All the bouts were close and fast and several required an extension of time to decide the winner. The best fencing was done by F. Lage, captain of the Technology team, and by H. W. Holmes 1G. Technology was represented by F. Lage, J. Medeiro and B. Medeiro; the University by H. W. Holmes 1G., W. MacLeod '05 and A. Tyng '04. Following is the result by bouts:
First, B. Medeiro won from MacLeod '05; second, A. Tyng '04, won from J. Medeiro; third, H. W. Holmes 1G., won from F. Lage; fourth, W. MacLeod '05, won from J. Medeiro; fifth, A. Tyng '04, won from B. Medeiro; sixth, H. W. Holmes 1G., won from J. Medeiro; seventh, F. Lage, won from W. MacLeod '05; eighth, B. Medeiro, won from H. W. Holmes 1G.; ninth, F. Lage, won from A. Tyng '04.
The officials were: Referee, Mr. A. P. Cushing '78; judges, H. J. Elam 3L., and Mr. F. Howard of Technology; timer, R. Merrill '06.
