The track team candidates from the freshman class were called out last week by Captain Thomas. Over eighty men responded, many of whom have made good records on preparatory school teams. The most promising are M. H. Bowman, Jr., 1905S., broad jump; R. P. Kinney 1905S., shot put; T. L. Shevlin 1906, hammer throw. These men will do light daily work until February 10, when the general call for candidates will be made in the college and scientific school.
Class golf team captains have been appointed in preparation for an interclass golf tournament to be held this spring. Seven teams are entered, each of which will play one match with each of the other teams. The two having the highest percentage of victories will play for the championship.
The university baseball candidates will be called out this year much earlier than usual. Four members of last year's team have graduated. The following still remain: Captain Winslow. c.; Littlefield and Chittenden, 1st b.; Patton, p.; Cote, l.f.; Barnwell, c.f.; Miller, s.s. In addition, there is some promising material from last year's freshman team.
