In the February number of the Philosophical Magazine, published in London, has appeared the thesis of George W. Pierce, Ph.D., '00, who is at present the holder of a Tyndall Scholarship and is studying at Leipsic. This article, entitled "Indices of Refraction for Electric Waves, Measured by a Modified Radio-Micrometer," comprises the results of a valuable investigation which was conducted last year under the direction of Professor Trowbridge. The method for wave measurement which Dr. Pierce has devised is a distinct advance over any previously employed.

Professor Carver has an article in the Chatauquan for March, on "Trusts and Internationalism," in which he discusses the causes of trusts and the factors which make against international combinations. In the Critical Professor Shaler writes on Thomas Huxley, presenting a brief outline of his life and his opinions. Other contributions by Harvard men to the current magazines are as follows:
