RED TOP, June 17.--A strong north-westerly gale prevented the crews from going out on the river this morning. The Freshmen were the first to take advantage of the calmer weather in the afternoon. They rowed down stream over the two-mile course in 11m. 42 1 2s., the last half-mile being very rough. Richmond stroked the crew.

The University crew went out soon afterwards in the usual order. They rowed three miles down stream and back in short stretches, paying particular attention to the beat and a hard catch. The four rowed a mile on time, finishing in 6m., 55s.

At a conference last night between Captains Bullard and Kunzig and Coaches Higginson and Cameron, it was decided to postpone the Freshman and four-oared races from the morning until the afternoon. The Freshmen will row down stream about 2 o'clock and the fours immediately after. The University race will occur later in the afternoon.
