Crews Rest a Day.

RED TOP, June 15.--The weather here yesterday was fine with a slight wind blowing up stream and freshening in the afternoon. Both crews went out for short stretches in the morning and soon returned to take examinations. Gregg replaced Smith at bow in Brownell's boat. In the afternoon the four-oar went out in their new shell which proved very satisfactory. Later the Freshmen rowed in their new Davy shell and were coached from the launch by Blake and H. Bancroft. They then started at the point with the University crew and raced over the first half of the four mile course, winning by one quarter of a length in slow time, due to the head wind and rough water. In the last two miles the University crew gave a better exhibition, were steadier, smoother and showed more speed; but finished in the slow time 24.55. The crews then returned to quarters.

Today the men spent the day about the quarters, going for a trip in the launch in the afternoon.
