SENIORS WIN CLASS GAMES.

Close Fight for Second Place. -- Poor Conditions.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The annual interclass track games held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon were won by the Seniors with a total of 35 points, the Juniors were second with 26 1-2, the Sophomores third with 21 2-3 and the Freshmen last with 20 5-6. The meet was not characterized by any fast performances, but was more evenly contested than the usual interclass games. A strong wind blew against the men in the stretch which in a measure accounted for the poor times made. The track, however, was in good condition. The field events were on the whole very weak.

The 220 yards hurdles was the most interesting event of the afternoon. It was a close race between J. G. Willis '02 and F. B. Scheuber '05. About half way Scheuber missed his stride and took his hurdle with the wrong foot. This gave Willis a slight lead which he maintained to the end. In the 440 yards run M. T. Lightner '03 led throughout with E. C. Rust '04 second. Rust was hindered from challenging Lightner in the stretch owing to an accident to his running suit.

In the 880 yards run E. B. Boynton '02 took the lead at the last turn and finished two yards ahead of K. E. Adams '02 who was five yards ahead of D. Du Bois '04.

In the mile run J. C. Grew '02 got the lead at the turn for the three-quarter mile. On the back stretch F. S. Buffum '04 took the lead, holding it to the end. About 20 yards from the tape J. W. Foster '03 on a spurt passed Grew and finished second; Buffum won by 4 yards.

In the two-mile run W. A. Colwell 1G., who won the event in the University games, entered in order to pace the men, although disqualified for a place. Colwell and E. W. Mills '02 started off in the lead, kept continually drawing away from the bunch and finished a good quarter of a lap ahead. In spite of the fast pace set by Colwell, Mills made a good spurt at the finish.
