The cricket squad will start outdoor practice on Soldiers Field this afternoon. On account of the softness of the ground cocoa matting will have to be used until the turf is in better condition.
The prospects for a winning team this year are not particularly bright, as many of the best players of last year have left College. Of last year's team, Drinkwater, Pasea, Mifflin, Stokes, Mather, D. Tyng, Paul and Taylor are out this spring. There are a number of new men out, and of these Carter, Rothermel, Tingley, Williamson, Bullinger, A. Tyng and Brode have been showing up the best. Carter, Drinkwater and Tingley are bowling in very good form. The chances are that the team will be strong in fielding; but there are no particularly brilliant batters, although the batting is more uniform than in former years.
