The eighth annual Harvard-Princeton debate will be held this evening in Sanders Theatre at 8 o'clock. Of the seven annual debates already held, Harvard has won all. The question tonight will be: "Resolved, That Mayor Low should strictly enforce the excise laws in New York City." Harvard chose the question and Princeton decided to support the affirmative. The Harvard team, composed of T. H. Reed1 L., I. Grossman '02 and J. K. Clark 3L., will give their opening speeches in the order named. In rebuttal the order will be Grossman, Reed and Clark. E. E. Smith '02 is alternate. For Princeton A. J. Barron '02, R. A. Blair P.G. and R. W. Anthony '02, will give their main speeches and rebuttal in the order named. The main speeches will be twelve minutes in length; the rebuttal five. The judges will be: Chief Justice E. E. Baldwin, of the Connecticut Supreme Court; Professor Patten, of the University of Pennsylvania; and Chief Justice J. H. Stiness, of Rhode Island. Hon. J. J. Myers '69, Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, will preside.
An informal dinner will be given before the debate, at the Union at 6.30 o'clock, at which the following will be present: The presiding officer; the judges; D an Ames of the Law School; Dean Briggs; Mr. I. L. Winter; Mr. W. P. Vail, chairman of the Princeton Debating Committee; Professor Covington, coach of the Princeton team; F. O. White '99, coach of the Harvard team; R. C. Bruce '02, president of the Harvard University Debating Club; M. Seasongood 2L., and Harvard graduate coaches.
A limited number of tickets for floor and first balcony seats are on sale at Thurston's. After 7 o'clock tickets can be procured only at the Auditor's office in Memorial Hall. The price is fifty cents.
