The pamphlet containing the announcement of summer courses in physical education for 1902 has been published recently by the University. As in former years, the courses will be under the direction of Dr. Sargent, assisted by special lecturers from different institutions. The exercises, which will be conducted at the Gymnasium, on the adjoining grounds, and in the lecture halls, are divided into two parts, theory and practice. The theoretical part of the work takes up principally the broad subject of hygiene in its relation to physical training. The practical part will consist of the various forms of gymnastic exercise indoor, and of outdoor athletic exercise, including swimming and rowing for those who choose to elect them. Though these courses are designed especially for instructors engaged in teaching through the winter, they are open to all students who desire to improve their physical condition.
