Baseball Prospects.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At present the prospects for a winning University baseball team are none too bright. The squad is an unusually small one, but is working hard. So far the work has consisted in fielding, catching men between bases, and practicing short dashes. Batting practice will begin this morning at 10, when Keeler of the Brooklyn National League team will be on hand to coach.

Only four of last year's team are out this spring: Wendell, Stillman, Clarkson, and Frantz. Devens has had an operation performed on his knee, but may possibly come out later. Coburn is sick, and Winsor and Coolidge are not out. Kernan is the only substitute who has returned this year, so that the infield positions will have to be filled by untried men. With such a lack of experienced material, baseball work will have to be of the hardest kind this year in order to turn out a winning team.
