President Eliot addressed the fifty-eighth annual meeting of the Massachusetts Teachers' Association in Tremont Temple yesterday, afternoon on "The Functions of the Larger Education Conventions." He pointed out the wonderful growth and increasing usefulness of educational conventions and outlined the various kinds of educational associations. President Eliot said that until recently New England had not shown as much interest in these conventions as other parts of the country, but that there is now a much more favorable feeling towards them than ever before. He ended his address by speaking of the advantages which the conventions offer to teachers for meeting and discussing matters of common interest.

The other speakers at the meeting were William T. Harris, LL.D, United States Commissioner of Education, and Rev. William J. Long of Stamford, Connectient.
