The University football team yesterday started on its last week of preparation for the final game at New Haven on Saturday. The last practice will be held Thursday, and on Friday morning the eleven will leave on the 10 o'clock train for New Haven Bay, where the men will stay at the Pequot Club until time for the game on Saturday. This arrangement is a decided change from the plan followed by former Harvard elevens, which have usually had their headquarters in Meriden for several days before the game. There will be open practice for a short time tomorrow afternoon.
Most of the men who played in the game last Saturday were given a rest yesterday from everything excepting a short signal practice. Both Marshalls were back in the line-up and played in the brief scrimmage against the second eleven. Two touchdowns were scored by the first team, one on a blocked kick and the other on a series of rushes from the 45 yard line. The team, though composed largely of substitutes, made a much better showing than in the game with Dartmouth. There was a great deal of fumbling, however, and the linemen were still slow in charging.
The men are all in good condition for the hard practices which will be held today and tomorrow. Carrick, right guard on the Freshman eleven, joined the squad and was played at centre on the second team.
