Professor and Mrs. F. W. Putnam will leave Cambridge tomorrow for a month's trip to California. Professor Putnam has been appointed honorary chairman of the committee of anthropology at the University of California and will meet this committee to make arrangements for the work during the coming year. In company with others he will examine several of the sites now being explored by the department of anthropology for data relating to the time when man first made his appearance on the Pacific coast. He will also deliver several lectures on American archaeology at the University.
