The Freshmen were defeated by Phillips Andover on Saturday by a score of 5-0. The work of the team was slow and erratic, both on offense and defense, while Andover, though outweighed, played a fast aggressive game. The Freshmen handled punts clumsily and the ends were slow in getting down under kicks. The punting of Hodges, however, and the good defensive work of the right side of the line, were encouraging.
Andover scored in the first half on a 70 yard run by Bullock around the Freshman left end, and a short tackle gain through Paul. In the second half, the Freshmen played more strongly, and they rushed the ball to Andover's 35 yard line; Metcalf's try for a goal from drop-kick was unsuccessful.
The line-up: Score - Andover, 5; Freshmen, O. Touchdown-Bullock. Umpire - Dr. Page. Referee - Mr. Holden. Time -15 and 20 minute halves.
