The second day of play brought the intercollegiate tennis tournament at Haverford, Pennsylvania, to the semi-finals, and the results of play assure victory to Harvard in the individual championship. The four players left for this contest are W. J. Clothier '04, E. W. Leonard '03, W. S. Warland '03 and R. Bishop 2L., all of Harvard.
The matches played yesterday in the tournament are recorded below:
Preliminary round--A. E. Thurber, Columbia, defeated R. Schley, Yale, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
First round--R. Bishop 2L. defeated J. Swaim, Pennsylvania, 2-6, 8-6, 6-4; A. H. Lewis, Yale, defeated B. K. Colket, Pennsylvania, 6-2, 6-2; E. W. Leonard defeated H. J. Randall, Princeton, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1; W. S. Warland defeated B. K. Colket, Pennsylvania, 6-1, 6-2; A. E. Thurber, Columbia, defeated R. King, Princeton, 6-2, 6-2.
Second round--Bishop defeated Thurber, Columbia, 7-9, 6-1, 6-3; Leonard defeated Plummer, Yale, 6-4, 6-0; Warland defeated I. C. Wright, Princeton, 6-2, 6-3; Clothier defeated Lewis, Yale, 6-2, -61.
Doubles--R. King and H. J. Randall, Princeton, defeated R. Mahan and A. E. Thurber, Columbia, 6-2, 2 6, 6-3.
Semi-finals--Clothier and Leonard defeated Bishop and Warland, 6-2, 6-4.
Exhibition doubles -- Clothier and Leonard defeated S. B. Alexander, Princeton, and B. Wright '03, 6-2, 6-3.
