The Freshman football practice yesterday was much shorter and lighter than usual on account of the warm weather. In spite of the heat there was, however, some improvement in the playing, especially on the part of the second team, which twice broke through and scored on long runs. The first team also scored twice, once on a drop kick.
The interference of the first team, though still ragged, was more consistent and effective than on the day before. The backs started somewhat more quickly and the linemen opened better holes. The first was able to gain on the second at almost every rush, but the gains would have been longer if the men had put more snap into their play.
On the defense the first team was careless and inaccurate in tackling. The ends were still slow in getting down under punts. The line men were rather weak in breaking through and failed to stop the plays of the second as effectively as usual.
