ATLANTIC CITY, N. J., May 7.--The University golf team defeated Princeton this morning in the preliminary round of the intercollegiate tournament, 17 to 1 1-2 points, and defeated Columbia in the afternoon, 12 to 3 1-2 points. Yale defeated Pennsylvania, 29 1-2 points to 0.
The final match between Harvard and Yale will be played off tomorrow.
The scores of the individual matches are given below:
Harvard-Princeton match -- Hollins 3 1-2, Griswold 0; Brown 3 1-2, Pyne 0; Curtis 4 1-2, Cooke 0; Richardson 2 1-2, Bonner 0; Averill 0, Wilson 1 1-2; Lindsley 3, Poole 0.
Harvard-Columbia match -- Hollins 2 1-2, Bates 0; Brown 2, Glenny 0; Curtis 0, Wood 2; Richardson 3, Edwards 0; Averill 4 1-2, Stone 0; Lindsley 0, Jackson 1 1-2.
