The president of the University Debating Club is trying to arrange a series of eight or ten lectures, to be given at the Union, on the History of Public Speaking. In these lectures the lives of orators of Greece, Italy, Germany, France, England and America will be discussed. It is hoped that the speakers will be from the various departments of the University, and that the final lecture of the series will be given by Colonel Thomas Wentworth Higginson '41.
The chief aim in arranging these lectures is to make a beginning for a future course on oratory.
