A committee, composed chiefly of Harvard graduates, has been organized to favor the construction of a dam in the Charles River, at or near the present Craigie bridge. The committee is made up as follows: Major H. L. Higginson '55, Dr. Augustus Hemenway '75, J. J. Storrow '85, G. W. Weld '60 and N. Matthews, Jr. An attempt will be made to have the cost of construction born jointly by the State of Massachusetts and the cities of Cambridge and Boston.
The dam will probably be built in conjunction with the new West Boston bridge and will be very similar in construction to the dams on the Ohio and Thames rivers.
