D. F. Davis '00 won the Massachusetts State tennis championship yesterday afternoon from M. D. Whitman '99. The scores were: 10-8, 6-3, 6-3.

Davis' playing was almost faultless and at all times brilliant. Whitman, on the other hand, was not in good form, and, although he contested nearly every game to deuce, brilliancy was lacking at the critical moment. Davis received with remarkable accuracy. His main strength lay in the fact that he kept Whitman in the back court almost constantly, while himself playing an aggressive net game.
