The Department of Political Economy will have a new member next year in Professor Thomas Nixon Carver, who for the last six years has been Professor of Political Economy at Oberlin College, Ohio. Professor Carver took his first degree in California; was for two years a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University; then Fellow at Cornell University, where he took the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1894. From there he went to Oberlin as Associate Professor in 1894. Dr. Carver's preference is for the theory of economics, although he has taught at Oberlin a considerable variety of subjects.
He comes here as an assistant-professor constructively, beginning his second term of five years.
