HARVARD, 8; LAFAYETTE, 2

Harvard outplayed Lafayette at every point yesterday afternoon and won by a score of 8 to 2. The Lafayette nine played better than any team which has been here this season except Brown, and the game was in doubt for five innings. The work of the nine in the field was much better than in Saturday's game, but was not so sharp as might be expected at this time of the year. The batting was not strong enough to have won against one of the big teams. The fact that seven men hit safely, however, is an encouraging feature. The sacrifice hitting was more successful than usual.

Stillman pitched fairly well, except in the second inning, when he was hit three times and gave a base on balls. He showed a tendency to carelessness except when in a tight place, and generally did not pitch his best until Lafayette had men on bases. Reid was not up to his usual form, allowing two passed balls and making a wild throw to second, which would have been an error but for an exceptionally good catch by Coolidge. Kendall did not cover much ground and missed a thrown ball.

Coolidge again batted well and was almost up to his form in the field. For Lafayette Currier and Bell fielded brilliantly, and the latter led his team at the bat.

Lafayette scored twice in the second inning on singles by Bell and Hubley, a passed ball, and Howard's hit. In Harvard's half of the inning Clark reached first on Howard's error and Wendell on a sacrifice sent him to second. He took third on Deven's out and scored on Coolidge's hit. Reid's home run in the next inning tied the score. In the sixth Wendell singled and Devens went to first on Howard's error. Coolidge sacrificed and Stillman hit to centre, bringing in both men. Stillman came in on Loughlin's two-base hit, and Hubley's wild throw allowed Loughlin to score. In the eighth inning Harvard made two earned runs on Coolidge's single and Kendall's home run hit.
