The Cricket Team.

The cricket squad, which has been reduced from about forty five men to thirty, gives promise of a strong team. There are perhaps fewer stars than last year, but, on the whole, the material to be drawn from is more uniformly reliable. In the first place the following men who were on last year's team form a strong nucleus: J. A. Lester 3G., A. Drinkwater '00, G. H. Bradley 2M., G. H. Wilder '00, J. T. Murray 1G., J. H. Fairweather 2L., R. C. Brown 1G., H. G. Gray 3L., and C. L. Clay '02; furthermore a number of the new men are players of some experience and among these is H. H. Lowry '00, captain of Haverford's '99 team, an excellent batsman and wicket-keeper. A second team will probably be formed shortly, which will play three or four games with neighboring teams.

It was expected that the Athletic Committee would furnish a crease this spring on Soldiers Field, but owing to lack of available ground, this project has been postponed till next year. Consequently the outdoor practice will be as before on Holmes Field.

Practice games will be played this year with the Longwood Cricket Club, Brockton, St. Paul's and one r two other teams. The games to decide the intercollegiate championship will be played at Philadelphia on May 25 and 26 with Haverford and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively. As usual, there will be a game about July 1 between the All American and All Canadian teams, but the American team will probably be made up entirely from Harvard and Pennsylvania, as Haverford will go to England this summer. The most promising candidates on the squad are E. H. Hilliard '00, R. Flint '01, both substitutes on last year's team, T. Stokes '03, V. C. Mather '03, M. Mac Neil '03, O. Paul '03, W. N. Taylor '03 and F. Fisher '03.
