Yale Debate Trial.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first Yale debate trial, held in the Fogg Lecture Room, brought out 35 men; fewer, perhaps, than usual but all more or less experienced. The speaking was spirited and enthusiastic and little marred by hesitation, repetition and "setness." The question, "Resolved, That Porto Rico be included within the customs' boundary of the United States," was discussed as thoroughly as could be expected in speeches of five minutes in length. While economic statistics were none too plenty, the constitutional aspect was thoroughly covered. F. W. Dallinger '93, H. L. Prescott '94 and Mr. I. L. Winter acted as judges.

The following fourteen men were retained and will speak in the order given at the second trial to be held in Sever 11, Friday, Feb. 23, at 7.30: E. E. Sargeant '00, A. L. Becker '00, H. P. Chandler '01, W. Morse '00, A. G. Alley, Jr., '01, M. Seasongood '00, E. Mayer '00, H. F. Cochems 3L., W. A. Heilprin '01, H. S. Bowers '00, W. P. Stanley 1G., R. S. Silver '01, L. H. Shephard '00, H. A. Yeomans '00.
